Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to both adult men and women.  The higher your BMI is, the more at-risk you are for health problems, such as heart disease and diabetes.  Body Mass Index can be calculated using pounds and inches with this equation:

 

BMI = (703 x Weight in Pounds) / (Height in Inches x Height in Inches)
